In one year our Wheel2Wheel journey will depart Hong Kong bound for Brisbane.  100 days and nights and just as many stories will follow …

Today is exciting for another reason as well …. Nathan P and I have just arrived at the “top end” of Australia – Darwin to begin our investigation of indigenious non-profit organisations for potential selection of Wheel2Wheel support.  Its Nathan’s first time in this remote region for 29 years and its my first ever.  In accordance with our mission we are here in the Northern Territory to personally meet with the aboriginal communities and the groups working with them.

We chose this geographic area and the indigenious people because we feel the issues surrounding these people are some of the most critical facing Australia.  We also believe Aboriginals represent a unique angle on the study of environmental conservation as they are “at one with nature”.  In fact, for anyone who has seen the movie “Avatar”, the Australian indigenious people are perhaps the most similar to the ‘Navi’ people on this planet!
