I’m really starting to understand the immensity of the philanthropic world. It seems every time I “peel the onion” and meet another person engaged in a non-profit endeavour it leads to yet another person of the same persuasion. I’m really enjoying the totally different tone of dialogue that exists in the business-of-giving compared to my old corporate life. People have been efficient, practical, willing to share information (and tolerant of my ignorance) that in the “for-profit” world would be unthinkable. Today I met with the brilliantly informed, organised and charming executives at ADM Capital Foundation. These ladies bring to philanthropy a real sense of technical sophistication and commercial professionalism mixed with a healthy dose of humanistic empathy.
