Wheel2Wheel

PURE path to the start

Today I started my series of Personal Training sessions, kindly provided by Asia’s premier gym PURE, which will hopefully allow me to reach my absolute peak conditioning for departure on 1 March 2011.

Sundance

I’m training with Sundance and we plan to squeeze 40 sessions into the next 71 days.  The aim is to create strength, endurance, flexibility and physical mass to enable me to withstand the vigors of handling a 250kg motorbike, 6 hours  a day, for 100 days.

Whilst PURE has an outstanding array of Personal Trainers available, I feel Sundance’s unparalleled depth of experience in nutrition, old-school weight-training and mental hardness is the right ‘fit’ for me and Wheel2Wheel.  His expereince spans three decades, so I’m confident he’s the man for the job!

MP Working out 6

I’m currently weighing 100 kg and my body fat percentage is 14.2%.  My target is to be 100kg with 12% body fat by 1 March departure.  In addition to ‘training heavy’ with Sundance, I will add more and more cardio into my weekly routine, including spin classes and hiking.  To develop greater flexibility I will add 1-2 PURE yoga classes per week as well.  Thanks to lululemon for providing all the fantastic clothing for my training.

My eating habits are fairly stable, a good combination of protein (target of 220g / day) and carbs.  I am reducing my intake of ice cream and Jack Daniels to a trickle!  My daily supplements include creatine, glutamine, typical protein shakes, a pre-workout drink N.O.-Xplode and of course 10,000 iU of Vitamin D as prescribed by Wheel2Wheel doctor Lauren Bramley.

All-in-all I’m starting to feel good about my conditioning.  However, I think everyone always wants more improvement in themselves and I’m no different.  That’s what so wonderful about exercise – its a way of life.  Sure, having Wheel2Wheel as a milestone to specficially train for is ideal, but what I’ve now started in terms of training and conditioning I hope to never stop.

Thanks to PURE for all their support during my preparation for the Wheel2Wheel expedition.
